Pete Zimmerman
Technical Producer Extraordinaire
I've
been hesitant to submit a bio because, let's be honest, who really
cares about me? So for those of you that have stumbled
upon this, and aren't related to me, thank you.
My radio career started at WHPK 88.5 FM, the fine University
of Chicago radio station. I'm sure many of you might recall
listening to me between 6 — 9 am every other Wednesday
morning. It was at WHPK where I developed the irritating
trait of feeling that my taste in music is superior to everybody
else's. After many glorious years at WHPK, I realized that
I was spending too much time writing Top Ten Record lists that
nobody read; paying too much money for "limited edition" colored
vinyl, and wasting too many hours proclaiming that The Jesus
Lizard would be the next Nirvana. It was time to make the
jump to commercial radio.
I started my work with The Steve Dahl Show in September
of 1996. Since that time, I've been called on to do many
tasks including setting off Steve's home security alarm, talking
incessantly on the air, and being in charge of the enormously
popular "Live Read" program. Of course,
the most satisfying job of my young career at WCKG was when I
was called upon to take care of Steve's dog Chamois. I
remain intensely loyal to The Steve Dahl Show and plan
on staying here for as long as I'm needed. In my free time
I enjoy reading The
Onion aloud to anybody who will listen.
