2:00 The Sox are beating the Yankees 10-8 but who cares? Matt and Brendan also have some breaking Bears news. They traded Chris Harris to the Panthers.
2:01 Steve missed Brendan's radio play but he heard about it. They'll probably do it again tonight.
2:02 Steve did hear Matt and Brendan say they didn't like the guy from The Killers because he wears sunglasses. Buzz wears sunglasses. And Matt wears a fedora!
2:03 Matt doesn't like anyone though, Steve can't even imagine what's in his iPod. No one's doing it for him these days.
2:04 Matt and Brendan have some nice audio of Robert De Niro blowing up at a Fox producer who asked him for more energy. What kind of twerp asks Robert De Niro to give more energy.
2:05 Steve recommends the Orson Welles/La Sur peas outtakes. He's doing a commercial for La Sur peas and the director keeps asking him for another take.
2:06 That whole tape is actually the basis for the Pinky & the Brain TV show. They actually used it as the basis of an episode too.
2:07 Matt and Brendan aren't sure what they're doing today during their break. Yesterday Brendan went to the Union League Club and took a nap. Matt's never even heard of the place.
2:08 Steve is familiar with the place which is why he's wondering how Brendan got in. His stepdad is a member so he let Brendan use his membership. It sounds like something Steve should join but he could probably just nap in his office.
2:09 Steve belongs to the Mid America Club but they don't have a nap room. They do have nice chairs to fall asleep in though.
2:10 Matt and Brendan had some Maxim models in earlier today. Steve didn't hear that either. Steve loves Matt, he's his son, but he can't listen to that much radio. He can't listen to himself for 5 hours and then 5 hours of Matt and Brendan.
2:11 Hot girls on the radio never work out well. They're always offended when you refer to them in a sexual way but that's the only reason they're here in the first place.
2:12 The girls weren't offended but they weren't as playful as they could have been. They were taking it a little too seriously but they're just here to promote tequila.
2:13 They're also doing some sort of modeling contest at the beach and Matt joked around about showing up in an American flag Speedo. They weren't playing along though and basically said he wasn't cut enough to show up.
2:14 Brendan asked the girls what clubs they like to go to but they seemed to think he was trying to ask them out. Then Brendan made some joke about Hurricane Katrina which totally offended them.
2:15 What tequila are they promoting. They should get these girls hammered before they come in here.
2:16 The girls have their own cabana at the AVP tournament this weekend so that's where they're having their contest. Steve's sorry it didn't work out better for them. The girls didn't even stick around during the break so they could work them a little more.
2:17 Maybe they thought Matt and Brendan weren't old enough to drink and didn't want to contribute to the delinquency of a minor. It's hard to make something like that work during the midday show anyway.
2:18 One of the girls was hot but the other one was just alright. You've got to bring two hot girls in for these things. Kudos to the Cuervo people for trying to get two people to promote you and then making them mad.
2:19 Speaking of making people mad, Brendan heard Buzz was bothered by the shirt that said "buzzkill" the other day. Steve doesn't think he was that bothered. He might think Matt and Brendan are gunning for their jobs though.
2:20 Buzz was in the middle of telling Matt about his new python skin-covered amp when he stopped dead and noticed Brendan's t-shirt.
2:21 Steve's heard about that amp too but he doesn't understand what it is. He thought Python was a brand name but it's just covered in python skin. It's hard to keep track of Buzz's amps because he gets a new one every week.
2:22 Then Buzz freaks out when he gets a new amp and says he can't buy any more. Then a week later he has another. There are far worse things to be addicted to though.
2:23 Maybe Buzz will bringing the new amp to the next gig and sport a python skin hat with a "buzzkill" t-shirt.
2:26 That was Lollapalooza stuff in the show open right. There was also a lot of the Cubs announcers talking about music they like. You don't really hear that on the Sox broadcasts. Ed Farmer doesn't really rock it and Hawk only likes Neil Diamond and the E Street Band without Bruce Springsteen.
2:27 The Cubs announcers know their music but a lot of the time they talk about bands that are tied in with some sort of Bud Light promotion.
2:28 Lollapalooza is tomorrow and Steve's already sick of it. Pete is too but he still has to go. Pete was hoping to get out of it but he doesn't have a choice.
2:29 The Lollapalooza stuff has been in the back of Pete's head for weeks and all this time he's been hoping to get out of it. Steve's looking forward to Pete and Jim's backstage antics.
2:30 Steve's not entirely sure what's happening tomorrow but it was pitched to him as a VIP area with food and massage tables. Steve didn't really care about any of that though.
2:31 Jim has been handling all of this stuff with Jill from promotions so he might have some idea of what's going on. Steve calls down to the news room.
2:32 Jim and Pete have press passes and VIP passes to the Lollalounge for tomorrow. Steve expects them to be getting massages on the air.
2:33 They'll probably be in the same area where Matt and Brendan and Garry are all day. Garry's actually going to be there at 8:00 AM tomorrow which might be Steve's fault.
2:34 For the first Cubs/Sox series at Wrigley the whole station was broadcasting from there all day. Then when the games were at The Cell Steve wanted to do the same thing in the parking lot.
2:35 Drew said that wouldn't work because people wouldn't come out to the parking lot at 8:00 AM to see Garry. Steve disagreed since people would probably be tailgating or just stopping by on their way to work.
2:36 On the other hand who's going to come early to see Garry at Lollapalooza? You can't even get in that early and then you'd have to get to the backstage press area where he'll be.
2:41 They did a great feature about Regina Spektor on CBS Sunday Morning. So Pete's the guy watching that. It's a whole routine for him, he wakes up at 7:45, makes some coffee and settles in for 90 minutes of entertainment.
2:42 CBS Sunday Morning is just a way for CBS to prove their still the smart, bow tie-wearing Edward R. Murrow types.
2:43 Sometimes they show old footage of Charles Kuralt which reminds Pete that he was living a double-life with two families.
2:44 Pete heard that Jose Contreras is going through a divorce and there was some speculation that it was effecting his pitching. He worked really hard to get his wife and kids over here too, he brought them on a raft.
2:45 Jose Contreras is butt-ugly but he's a baseball player with a World Series ring so he probably gets laid. Steve wears his replica World Series ring but it never works.
2:46 The Sox World Series ring is very ugly, it looks like something an elderly Jewish woman would wear to have cocktails. And it was designed by Jerry Reinsdorf's wife.
2:47 Those championship rings are supposed to be manly-looking. The Bears NFC ring looks sweet. They were already handed out at the beginning of camp which is better than having a pre-game ceremony for it. That's just a reminder that you didn't win the Super Bowl.
2:48 Pete heard that the Bears gave out two types of rings, one to players and a smaller one to the personnel. That sounds like something the McCaskey's would do.
2:49 Everyone who plays for or works for the White Sox got the same ring after the World Series. But on the other hand maybe the players deserve a nice ring. The Bears as an organization are very cheap though. They won't even let you pay for tickets with a credit card because they don't want to pay the fees.
2:50 Steve has some information about the Bears NFC rings. They were given out last Thursday before the first camp, followed by a highlight reel of the 2006 season.
2:51 The team also made a special presentation to owner Virginia McCaskey. What if they did something like The Full Monty?
2:52 It would probably be weird to see front office people walking around with this giant championship ring. It's like with the Sox when you see women who work in the office with these giant rings on.
2:53 Even the football players don't wear the rings all the time, just for special occasions. If Pete worked in the Sox front office he'd wear the ring out to bars.
2:56 Whenever Steve hears Jerry Reinsdorf talking about the design of the White Sox ring it makes him think that his wife did get to him. Jerry says he didn't want the ring to look like a championship ring but that's what they're supposed to be. They're supposed to be a man's ring!
2:57 If you ask any of the White Sox players they'll say that they want a ring that says they're the champions and that looks like a high school ring or a collegiate ring.
2:58 If Steve were a White Sox player and he got a ring like that it wouldn't motivate him to try to win another World Series.
2:59 Of course tomorrow Pete and Jim kid will be at Lollapalooza for all the backstage coverage. You won't even need to be there because Pete and Jim are going for you, it'll be like you're actually there.
3:00 Today's song is from one of the bands that will be playing Lollapalooza. They have a prime slot early Sunday morning. Pete struggled with his music choice for today because there are so many to choose from.
3:01 Pete thought he'd choose a band that's playing early to get people to come out and see them. Is Pete going to be able to make it after his CBS Sunday Morning viewing?
3:02 Pete has CBS Sunday Morning to watch and then a show on the BBC from Stephen Merchant, co-creator of The Office. That's quite a Sunday morning Pete has put together for himself, from obscure to obscurer.
3:03 Song: The Plot, White Rabbits
3:06 Does Pete really think that song is going to make people come down to Lollapalooza early? He's delusional. Unless people want to come down and make it stop.
3:07 If someone did want to come down and see the band where would they find Pete? Leaning up against a tree in a too-tight t-shirt?
3:08 Buzz doesn't think he'll be making it down to the festival this weekend but he wouldn't rule it out. He can't remember the last time he was at a festival though.
3:09 Wasn't Buzz just at the Peace & Hemp Festival 3 weeks ago? Steve wasn't sure if Buzz wanted to talk about that.
3:10 Steve keeps meaning to ask Buzz what he does on Saturday nights now that his Mexican restaurant has gone chach.
3:11 Buzz has been on an excellent adventure to find a new place but luckily he has a fall back. The Mexican restaurant had two locations and the original, 5 table restaurant is still there.
3:12 Over the past weekend when Buzz was making his calls about Melvin Taylor coming in he had mentioned to Pete that he had been at his Mexican restaurant on Saturday. Pete was glad to hear the tradition was still alive.
3:13 Does Buzz not want to to the new place because the chicks are so hot? The first thing that went with the new place was the homemade tortilla chips. Those are usually hard to come by.
3:14 Steve doesn't mind a Mexican place that has triangle shaped chips, even if they're not homemade at least they're making an effort. Sometimes you get the round chips which are clearly Tostitos.
3:17 Steve has switched off coverage of the Minneapolis bridge collapse because he can't take it any more. It seems excessive but when you have an image of the bridge in the water, which is everyone's worst fear, it must be hard for the news channels to remove it.
3:18 Early death tolls were at 7 and then it went up to 9. It seemed like the news channels were counting people dead who were in cars and couldn't get out.
3:19 At this point Steve has heard the personal story of every single person who lives in Minneapolis, even if they weren't involved in the bridge collapse.
3:20 Last night at the end of the local news Buzz was directed to other stations offering overnight coverage. He couldn't possibly imagine what that would be like though.
3:21 Steve has pretty much memorized all of the coverage from Fox which seems to be the best out there. The other thing about Fox is they can say whatever they want because they're not accountable. Could be terrorism!
3:22 The President referred to the bridge collapse as a "tragic mishap" which seems inappropriate. The sheriff up there has roped the area off and is calling it a crime scene.
3:23 People did say they heard several loud explosions but that could be the sound of the bridge breaking a part. That area is sort of a hot bed for terrorism though. The only guy to stand trial for 9/11 was found at a flight school in Minnesota. They're way too tolerant up there.
3:24 That being said it doesn't seem like it was terrorism. If Steve was a terrorist he'd claim it anyway just as a free one.
3:25 The NTSB guy handling the investigation seems pretty smart. They probably just take all the pieces of the bridge and put it back together somewhere else to figure out what went wrong.
3:26 This whole thing is tailor-made for Fox in the dog days of summer. Just send Sheppard Smith up there and let him go.
3:27 Now everyone is repeating something a congresswoman said up there. You could tell she spent all day thinking about it and trying to be profound. Now everyone is repeating it.
3:28 The most irritating person Steve saw yesterday was the Red Cross guy giving out their phone number. All they want to do is raise more money.
3:29 Then he's asking people to donate blood but they don't even know if they need blood. Steve's still waiting for the Red Cross to be accountable for all the money they got after Hurricane Katrina.
3:30 There were probably just as many soldiers who died in Iraq yesterday as were killed in the bridge collapse. Steve also found it ironic that we're spending all this money to repair the infrastructure in Iraq while ours is falling apart.
3:31 Caller Irv was also riveted by the Fox News coverage. He's wondering if Steve caught Greta Van Susteran's interview with a University of Minnesota professor who saw the whole thing from his building.
3:32 Steve saw pretty much all of Greta Van Susternanananan's coverage last night. Irv enjoyed when the professor was a little condescending to her.
3:33 Greta also had a bridge expert on her show and he seemed to know quite a bit but she wouldn't let him talk. That's sort of what they do on Fox, they get some expert on but don't let them get a word in.
3:34 Buzz has the feeling that in the back of all of their heads they think bridges are ultimately boring and they need to jack it up.
3:37 There was a lady on Fox this morning who's car was smashed up in the collapse. Then they show a picture of her standing on the bridge with the baby but the baby wasn't in the car with her. Her husband brought it down later.
3:38 They do have video of the bridge collapsing from a security camera which Steve has watched about 500 times today.
3:39 At one point Steve freeze-framed the video to try and count how many cars were on the bridge. It was hard to differentiate between cars and construction equipment though. He was hoping his hi-def TV would aid him in helping investigators.
3:41 U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar said "a bridge in American shouldn't fall down" and she was speaking in sound-bite. You can't speak in sound-bites that close to a tragedy.
3:42 She was also a prosecutor before elected to office which she mentioned during her press conference for some reason. This isn't a campaign stop! She just got elected and already she's speaking in sound-bites.
3:43 Senators serve 6-year terms and Congressmen only serve 2 which means all they do is campaign. In 6 years she'll be able to bring all this up again.
3:44 The most heinous thing to Steve though was the Red Cross guy. He was just doing a commercial for the Red Cross.
3:45 There's one guy coming off the bridge and he's shirtless, being helped by two people. The guy is totally ripped though so he's probably grateful for all his time in the gym. That image is forever.
3:46 Steve turned on CLTV but they just have the Fox feed, Steve can't get away from it. How about some info about what's going on around here? How are our bridges?
3:47 Buzz has seen a few local bridge stories coming in and according to those our bridges are in better shape than most bridges in other states. That's probably what they said in Minnesota just before that bridge collapsed.
3:48 That was a very unusual drop from Newsradio that Pete just played. Steve's going out of his way to not play bridge songs and then knucklehead Pete plays that. Does he have any more bridge humor because Steve would prefer to control that. He doesn't want to be dragged into something.
3:49 Pete's looking for some Greta Van Susteran audio. That's the best route to take in these situations, make fun of the news coverage. That way you stay out of trouble. Steve probably shouldn't even reveal that information but there it is.
3:50 Song: Lost Highway, Bon Jovi
3:53 Steve was talking about Bon Jovi with Matt and Brendan earlier. Matt doesn't like Bon Jovi but he doesn't like anyone. He has an 80 GB iPod and it's empty.
3:54 Steve saw something on CLTV about Illinois bridges which he'd like to go to now. Is this reporter's name Judy Wang or is Steve just imagining that?
3:55 The IDOT bridge lady looks like a troll but that's probably where you get the good bridge experts from.
3:56 The Governor said he's going to make some surprise bridge inspections throughout the state. Our governor is an idiot. He can't even fix the budget and the state's going to shut down but he's too chicken to raise taxes.
3:57 According to the IDOT woman they regularly inspect bridges. So what's the point of the surprise inspections? Are they hoping to catch the bridge doing something it's not supposed to like having a smoke?
3:58 This is classic Rod Blagojevich though. Any time something happens he just hides behind helping the sick kids.
3:59 Steve assumes people are checking bridges all the time everywhere. He's not sure what happened at the bridge in Minnesota though. The senator said that sort of thing isn't supposed to happen in America but it did.

4:05 Steve's enjoying some Greek food from Venus, they're a new sponsor and a new restaurant.
4:06 Steve enjoyed some pork on a stick. He loves pork and he loves sticks.
4:07 The new casino in New Buffalo is opening today. Steve's family is on pins and needles because he's never been that close to a casino before.
4:08 Steve hasn't secured a line of credit yet. It might be the biggest casino in the Midwest. For the longest time New Buffalo fought the casino but now they've got the biggest and best they could get.
4:09 Caller Michael lives pretty close to New Buffalo. There was some information in the paper about the new casino.
4:10 155,000 square feet of gaming room. If it was in Vegas it would be the second largest casino on the strip.
4:11 Michael's going to the casino tonight with his wife so he'll let Steve know how it was. So we'll have Lollapalooza reporting and casino reporting tomorrow.
4:12 Way to fight that casino up in New Buffalo though. They went from not wanting it to getting the biggest Indian casino ever.
4:13 Steve can get a little crazy gambling but he never has the urge to do something real bad. Part of is that Steve's grateful that he can earn a good living doing this job so he doesn't want to lose all that.
4:14 It's mind-boggling to Buzz that someone could go and lose all of their money in a casino. Then they wonder what happened.
4:15 Caller Don stopped at the casino today just to check it out. It's sweet and it's huge. It took him a half hour to get to the parking lot.
4:16 Hopefully word of all this gets back to the chief at the Four Winds casino. Steve's not sure if they have any sort of V.I.P. up there but if they do he'd like to be hooked up.
4:17 Steve's party Indian, so is Buzz. Buzz's grandfather used to joke around that the Kilman ancestors used to ride the...well he can't actually say that it's too obscene.
4:18 Headlines with Buzz
4:19 A new posting on an Al Qaeda website says to wait for a big surprise, god-willing. Why didn't the terrorists take credit for the bridge collapse?
4:20 Caller Rhonda called the Four Winds hotel to book a suite and while she was on the phone the guy told her she got the last room. Then as she was booking it sold out.
4:21 Rhonda does have the name of the VIP guy but that should probably be taken off the air.
4:22 Last night the Pointer Sisters played the black tie opening. Steve has a tuxedo, why wasn't he invited! A casino is the kind of place where you could wear a tuxedo and not stick out. People would probably think Steve worked there though.
4:23 The other day Steve was at the gas station, wearing a denim shirt and a woman thought he worked there. It's a self-serve gas station though!
4:24 Steve has found that opening a line of credit at a casino gets you good treatment, even if you don't use it. Plus it scares the hell out of the family.
4:25 Barack Obama has stated that if he were president he would be willing to go into Pakistan to fight terrorists but wouldn't use nuclear weapons. So he's for military action but not effective military action.
4:26 Why take the nuclear option off the table? Even if you're not really going to use it, don't say you're not going to use it.
4:27 Russian explorers in submarines have planted their flag at the bottom of the ocean floor at the North Pole. Thus Russia has claimed the area as their own. Canada is the first to object to their claim.
4:28 Charles Simic has been named the U.S. poet laureate. Buzz actually has an example of one of his poems. Is he one of those guys that doesn't rhyme? Steve needs a little iambic pentameter!
4:29 Buzz is going to read the poem but he'd like some music. How about the David Hochberg music? Or maybe Bill Kurtis' music.
4:30 Steve had to turn off the music because he didn't want to mess up Buzz, he was just rolling. Buzz should be the U.S. poet laureate reader laureate.
4:37 Yesterday Steve had 3 songs shuffled to him on his iPod that he wanted to play today. The first one was the Bon Jovi song and the next one is a little long but it's a good one.
4:38 Song: Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands, Bob Dylan
4:49 That's your poet laureate right there. And there's harmonica in that song which just proves Steve doesn't hate it.
4:50 Steve also likes that song because there's a lot of p-popping in it. It also features Al Kooper playing keyboard for the first time ever. He'd never even played keyboard before.
4:51 Maybe it's not that song but it happened on one Bob Dylan album. He doesn't really want to get into it now though.
4:52 At the 6 minute mark in that song Steve almost bailed when he found out Ron Lewis was enjoying it. Does Steve really need to know he's hitting Ron's pleasure button?
4:53 At the risk of getting Ron Lewis off again Steve's going to give Buzz some more information about that song.
4:58 We've got a lot coming up on the big show today. Chef Hans will be here for Meat Talk in a few minutes and then the Five O'Clock Taco Bell.
4:59 Today Steve will be sharing an original taco with a listener. He'd like someone to go to Taco Bell, get a taco, then get out of line and call Steve from the parking lot.
5:00 That burrito from yesterday haunted Buzz, he couldn't stop telling people how good it was. The best thing about the Taco Bell is that you can get that experience everywhere you go. If you're in Schaumburg and you want that burrito, you can get it.
5:01 While Steve waits for someone to call in he'll talk to Pat Boyle from Comcast. Steve was up late last night watching Pat after the Cubs game and post-game.
5:02 Steve enjoyed Sportsnite and then he checked out the Dodgers game to see what Barry was doing. He went heavy sports just to get the bridge thing out of his head.
5:03 Steve has to say that even though he's a Sox fan he enjoyed that last inning of the Cubs game. They scored the winning run on a wild pitch. In a way the Cubs sort of remind Pat of the 2005 White Sox because they find ways to win.
5:04 The Cubs lost today but so did the Brewers so everything is right in Cubdom, they're one percentage point ahead of Milwaukee in first place. Steve liked what Lou Piniella said about people getting too excited about first place though, that was good.
5:05 The only guys who ask Lou questions in the post-game are Bruce Levine, George Castle and Les Grobstein. George isn't even in Chicago, he writes for some Northwest Indiana paper that's distributed on his block.
5:06 Just when Pat thought he'd seen it all with the Sox, after giving up 13 home runs in 2 games, they put an 8-spot on the board in the second. Pat figured the Sox would just roll through that game but then Garland went out and gave up 8 runs in the bottom of the second. It was the first time that's happened in major league history.
5:07 The Sox held on to win 13-8 though. It should be an interesting 2 months with Ozzie though.
5:08 The Bears traded Chris Harris to the Panthers for a draft pick today. Devin Hester missed a second practice today with a hamstring issue.
5:09 Hopefully Devin's extra time on offense isn't causing this problem. As great as he would be on offense you don't want to lose him all together because he's such a big contributor to the special teams.
5:10 Caller Chris is in a Taco Bell parking lot. He already ate one taco while waiting but that's alright. Chris goes with the hot sauce but Steve prefers mild.
5:11 Steve's sauce packet says "can I drive?" Chris' says "can I have some". While in line the guy at the counter was talking up the burrito so he got one as well as three original tacos.
5:12 That's what Steve gets when he orders, eating the Taco Bell on the way home so no one at home knows about it.
5:17 Chef Hans is here for Meat Talk. He wanted to wish Switzerland a belated birthday. It was yesterday.
5:18 Hans has some good news and bad news about Michael Vick. The bad news was he was fired by Nike but the good news is he was hired by Hush Puppies.
5:19 Hans has had a lot of the cast of the new Batman movie coming into the restaurant. He's been invited to come see them film the movie.
5:20 The Dark Knight himself has come into the restaurant but Hans hasn't seen him yet. One of the producers offered to pick Hans up in a limo and take him too the set.
5:21 Steve's just going to warn Hans now, be careful with those Hollywood guys in limos. He could end up on TMZ sliding out of a limo with no underpants on.
5:22 Hans has had a few Cubs coming in too like Lou Piniella. Also Mets third baseman David Wright will probably be in all weekend. He's a regular at S & W in New York and he's a class act.
5:23 Hans is going to ask David to sign a ball for Steve. He knows how he likes the ball signed right, to Stev.
5:24 The first emailer wants to know how to finish off a steak to doneness after the initial sear. This emailer sounds like one of those guys who knows the answer but is just emailing for the free dinner.
5:25 The next emailer has a question about burgers with cheese mixed in with the meat instead of melted on top. He wants to know if there's a different way to cook the burger.
5:26 Steve shouldn't have read this email because the guy links Steve to a Wikipedia article about the Juicy Loosey, a burger with cheese in the middle. This also seems like a question someone's asking to get a free email.
5:27 Steve might be high off the fumes from Hans' cologne. That's the most cloying cologne Steve has ever encountered. It's like he's in a dude whorehouse.
5:28 Steve's boys all wear cologne with a similar smell that Steve doesn't like. It could just be that he doesn't like other dude's smells though.
5:29 The last emailer wanted to alert Hans to a web page that has a camera fixed on meat that's dry-aging. He's wondering if that would be porn for Hans.
5:30 It's not really a webcam, it's just an animation of meat aging. Hans thinks it could be exciting nonetheless.
5:34 Chef's Swiss Army cologne was introduced in 1966. It has a citrusey scent with notes of lavender, sweet spice and woodsy notes. It's the woodsy notes that Steve doesn't like.
5:35 Steve's not sure what Buzz did to his sense of smell that made it so he couldn't smell that cologne but he was wearing a lot of it.
5:36 Buzz actually complained to Greg Solk once about a co-worker that wore too much cologne.
5:37 Steve actually saw Greg last night, he was quite taken aback with how good Steve looked. Steve actually told Greg an amusing anecdote last night.
5:38 Steve and Buzz get ratings bonuses. Drew told him they were #1 in adults in their time slot but then the very next day he told him that they were actually #1 from 3-7 but #2 from 2-7. It was Greg's station The Drive that beat them.
5:39 So Steve and Buzz aren't getting as much of a bonus because of that. Steve didn't want to tell that story yesterday because it didn't seem relatable. Of course now he's also breaking some bad news to Buzz.
5:40 David Hochberg was here earlier and somehow Steve kept him off the air. Buzz saw him down in Jimmy Mac's studio and thought he was an intern.
5:41 Every once in a while Steve gets an email from a guy in his 40s who wants to quit his job and become a radio intern. Why would you want to do that? Plus Steve doesn't need that added pressure of having the guy's family wondering what the hell he's doing.
5:42 Steve wasn't trying to be mean to Hans earlier but is there anyway he could come in before he showers? It might be the moss and cedar smell in cologne that really bugs Steve. Who wants to smell like moss? It's mold!
5:43 Sometimes the boys are wearing Steve's cologne and it bothers him so maybe he just doesn't like the smell of other dudes.

5:45 This live read contains what Steve considers to be profanity. There are a few pre-recorded Townstone commercials with some profanity as well, David's like a shock mortgage broker.
5:51 That was a little awkward during the break when Buzz got mad at Drew about the bonuses. Drew can never tell you're mad at him either.
5:52 Buzz wasn't going to lash out but Drew gets right up in his face and is smiling. He's taunting Buzz!
5:53 You would think that Drew wouldn't quibble about the ratings and just pay the two guys that are the only ones who are number 1 for you.
5:54 Buzz would have made different financial plans if he'd known the truth from Drew. No one around here knew Buzz was that hand-to-mouth. A lot of it is probably from amp purchases though.
5:55 Actually, Buzz is in the middle of a perfect storm of vacation payments. The last credit card bill contained his Lake Geneva vacation, the Jamaica vacation and then the trip to Mexico in December.
5:56 Steve tried to help Buzz, pointing out that Drew seemed to be enjoying it. We're going to have to get some sort of electric fence to keep Drew out, or maybe a collar.
5:57 All that being said, Buzz does like Drew. So does Steve but he can see why he failed as the host of a radio show. He has some of the worst show timing Steve has ever seen.
5:58 And this is a Drew with Steve and Buzz working him over. Imagine Drew by himself, running amok, with a blind producer.
5:59 Time for some sports. The Cubs lost 10-6 to the Phillies today. They remain tied with the Brewers in first place. Technically the Cubs are in first place since they're one percentage point ahead of them. If the season ended today though the Cubs would be in first.
6:00 Steve did not hear the radio call of last night's win but he has it to play right now. Pat Hughes said that Matt Murton gleefully scampered to home after a wild pitch. He really did gleefully scamper but it sounds a little gay.
6:01 Brewers catcher Johnny Estrada and manager Ned Yost got into a heated argument in the tunnel leading to the clubhouse during today's loss to the Mets. Maybe they're looking to get themselves fired up.
6:02 The Sox beat the Yankees today 13-9. All of these scores today sound like football scores.
6:03 Alex Cintron left the game with an upset stomach and Darin Erstad left with leg cramps. That Darin Erstad is useless. He goes on the DL, comes back and gets hurt in the same game.
6:04 The Bears traded safety Chris Harris to the Carolina Panthers today. This story is written as if Nathan Vasher and Mike Brown are both commenting about the trade at the same time.
6:05 Devin Hester was sidelined for a second straight day with a hamstring injury at Bears training camp. As opposed to being sidelined at Applebee's?
6:06 The Texas Rangers informed Sammy Sosa that his playing time will be drastically reduced in the last two months of the season. Perhaps it's an effort to get him to quit. Steve doesn't see that happen, he wants to get paid.
6:07 He's probably going through his money like it's water down in the Dominican. His money goes a lot further but he seems to be spending it at a fast clip. Someone from Comcast was down there to cover his birthday and it was like one of those CEO parties where the guy spends $50 million on his wife's birthday.
6:09 Yesterday Steve had three songs shuffled to him on his iPod that he's playing today. The first was Bon Jovi's Lost Highway which unintentionally tied in with the bridge thing.
6:10 Then Buzz did that story about the new U.S. poet laureate and read one of his poems. Steve played the Bob Dylan song because he's the poet laureate of a generation.
6:11 Song: Personal Jesus, Johnny Cash
6:14 That's a pretty good version of the Marilyn Manson song right there.
6:15 Just for the record Steve can still smell Chef Hans' cologne. He wants to kick out a window and get some air in, that's how bad it is.
6:16 Does Pete have something to tell Steve? He was hoping not to but he doesn't get to go through those changes.
6:17 He just wanted to say that Personal Jesus was actually a Depeche Mode song. That's important. There's a ton of people calling to correct Steve about it too.
6:18 Yesterday in Steve's blog he listed his 5 favorite pies but there were really 6. Then he got a ton of emails from people correct him. Who cares?!
6:18 Buzz thinks Steve is to blame for all of the people correcting him. He used to be very critical but he's not any more. He set the bar very high. Steve can see why Pete didn't want to correct him.
6:19 If you want to criticize Steve read the blog when it gets posted and then email him. Don't wait until 10:30 at night when it's too late to change it. At least when Steve correct he corrects on the scene, giving people a chance to correct the problem. That pie thing really steamed him though. Here's Steve opening himself up, sharing the kind of pies he likes because what kind of man says his favorite pie is a cream pie? But Steve put it out there anyway. He could have faked with a manlier pie, an apple, but he didn't.
6:20 Mark Czerniec is on the phone. He thinks Steve's blogs from yesterday was actually subtle humor. He says he's going to list his five favorite pies but lists six, just showing how much he likes pie.
6:26 That was a good call from Buzz about Steve being critical. He has a whole audience trained and every once in a while they're going to turn on him. Not about pies though!
6:27 Divers were searching Lake Michigan today for a 6-year old child who reportedly drowned. Steve is a trained rescue diver but he'd never dive looking for bodies. If he went to Aruba he'd keep an eye out for Natalee Holloway though.
6:28 Details on how the children got in the water were unknown. Steve's guessing they were swimming because it was hot out.
6:29 News with Buzz
6:30 Shifting currents in the Mississippi have suspended recovery and rescue efforts following the bridge collapse.
6:31 The President, who referred to the tragedy as a "mishap", will visit the site on Saturday. Apparently Bush doesn't know the definition of the word "mishap".
6:34 A new post on an Al-Qaeda website warns people to wait for a big surprise then features a doctored image of President Bush and Hamid Karzai standing in front of a White House engulfed in flames.
6:36 A play in London's West End is drawing criticism from the prime minister's office.
6:37 Jihad: The Musical is described as a mad-capped romp through the world of international terrorism.
6:38 A petition from the prime minister's website is asking producers to shut the play down. It can't be very good if people want it shut down.
6:43 Earlier today Steve talked to a gentleman who was going to call in tomorrow with a report from the new casino in New Buffalo.
6:44 On the phone is Michael, reporting live from the Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo. They've got blackjack, three-way poker, Pai Gow, no-limit roulette and regular roulette, baccarat and many more games. There's also 6 places to eat.
6:45 Michael put in a good word for Steve with the head of marketing and he should call sometime next week. Is Steve going to be banned from the casino because Mike was bothering them?
6:46 Michael is calling from just outside the casino, he wasn't getting reception inside. It's better that way.
6:47 Michael went into the steakhouse as well as the seafood restaurant Swim. Steve thought he said Skim which is not a good name for anything in a casino.
6:48 Michael sounds like a bit of a troublemaker, is he sure Steve's going to be hooked up? They don't have a big picture of Steve at all the entrances, instructing security guards to keep him out?
6:54 Matt and Brendan went their separate ways today, both taking naps in their own apartments.
6:55 Brendan's super-deprived of his nap time because he's not working on Steve's show this week. Buzz might not know this but yesterday Brendan took at nap in the nap room of the Union League Club.
6:56 Now that Steve knows they have a nap room he wants to join the club. They're pretty stuffy over there, they might not take Steve and Buzz.
6:57 They also offer you a robe but Steve prefers the other napping dudes to be clothed. It wouldn't be relaxing to Steve to sleep in a room where other dudes were napping in robes.
