I went over to Pat and Rachel’s new condo to watch the Bears game on Sunday. It should really just be called the Packers game, because as the Bears apparently weren’t alerted to the fact that there was a game taking place. We ordered some pizza from Piece. That’s the place co-owned by Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick. The pizza was good, but the game was nauseating. Seriously, I could only manage to eat three pieces of Piece pizza. That’s a new low or me, and especially with good pizza. I’m not exactly sure where Pat and Rachel live, since I use my GPS to get there, but it’s in Bucktown, or Wicker Park, or one of those trendy places like that.
After the game I pointed the Steve-mobile in the direction of downtown, and managed to find the East Bank Club fairly easily (considering I wasn't exactly sure where I was starting out from). That’s the nice thing about downtown; those giant buildings are HUGE navigational clues. I did and hour on the TreadClimber while watching Pat Boyle and the gang dissect the Bears (I mean Packers) game on ComcastSportsNet. I noticed during a promo for Chicago Tribune Live that my appearance from last week had made the promo reel. I think that Mike Dahl might have had something to do with that, but hey, reverse nepotism works for me.
I’m interested to hear what Tom Thayer has to say about Sunday’s game. As I got in the car after the game, he was interviewing Lovie Smith. That seems like a tough assignment. Tom managed to keep himself under control, and Lovie was his usual boring self. Tune into our show Monday morning at 7:30 to find out what Tom really thinks. I hope he’s proud of me coming over to the EBC before heading over to the Blackhawks game. I’m writing this using their free Wi-Fi. I am going to ask Tom if there’s any way that we can get Ron Rivera back as the Bears defensive coordinator. I think that’s a major part of what’s wrong with the defense. If I’m a player, I listen to “Chico”, not Bob Babich, who never played.
