Starting today I will have to enter 54 into the treadmill as my age in order for it to calculate the proper heart rate for my workout. I have been thinking about that for the last few weeks as I have been entering in 53. Not that 54 is a milestone birthday, but I have been wondering how it will affect my target heart rate. Currently my target heart rate for a cardio workout is 134 bpm. I wonder how much it will go down. It has to go down some, right? Will I just ignore it and stay at 134. I have so many issues to deal with today when I hit the gym. The most important being machine placement behind a hot girl’s butt.
One thing is for sure: My standard 60 minute workout probably won’t be enough to undo all of the calories that I plan to consume from the treats people always seem to funnel my way on my birthday. Buzz told me he expects an easy day with no work and a lot of food, for HIM. I’m one of those people who say they don’t want you to do anything special for their birthday, but then if you don’t do something, I tend to pout. I think that’s a very unappealing quality, especially in a man, but there you go, that’s the enigma that is Steve Dahl. I have already received lots of birthday wishes at my facebook page and at steve@dahl.com, so thanks for that.
I share a birthday with Joe Walsh (Eagles). He’s a few years older, but we are very similar in many ways. He’s a slightly better guitar player than I am, but other than that we have a lot in common. I never really tended to believe in any of that astrological stuff, but since meeting Joe, I have to admit that here might be something to it. Joe and I also share a birthday with Bo Derek, so the whole astrology thing sort of falls apart there, since neither Joe nor I are a perfect 10. We also don’t look very good with those Bo Derek beads in our hair, but then again, the only person I have ever seen pull that off is Bo Derek herself. Girls: Never do that on vacation in the Caribbean.
