Its 1:00 PM on Thursday and already today I have done my radio show, Pilates, and had a meeting about hosting the Comcast SportsNet Sports awards in February. I will tell you more about the event as it draws nearer, but I can tell you that it will be broadcast live on Comcast SportsNet on Monday, February 11th from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and it will be in glorious HD. I’m working with Mike Leiderman, who you might remember from his days as a sportscaster on Channel 5. He’s done plenty of other stuff too, but that’s all I can remember off the top of my head. The show will be fun, and it will be a chance for me to stalk (and bag) Jim Thome in person.
I am looking forward to the cold weather this weekend. If I’m going to brave a Chicago winter, then I want it to be hardcore. Since we can’t go outside anyway, we might as well have weather conditions bad enough to get us on the network news. I still long for that winter when it got to be 80 degrees below zero with the wind chill (January 20th 1985). One of the good things about cold is that you don’t have to shovel it. I suppose if I had a job where I had to work outside, or if I were at the Giants @ Packers game this weekend, I would think differently. I like the cold as long as I can go stand on the driveway for a minute or two and then run back into the house for a bowl of chili.
As I type this I am sitting in my office at Jack Fm eating beef jerky and chocolate covered orange peels, and drinking Evian water. Do I know how to live or what? Actually, I have been living a little too large lately, if you know what I mean, and I have put myself back on a diet plan beginning next week. It’s called The Fresh Diet, and they are the people who took over Balance for Life here in Chicago. Ironically, the last radio station I was on (WCKG) just went “Fresh FM” for life. I hope I have better results with my diet than they are having with their format. Doing the Jack FM morning show has been a wonderful new challenge, and I love it, but it’s tough to know when to eat. Sadly, I’ve opted for all of the time, which is not good.
