That Tony Rezko must not be the brightest guy in the world. How can you get all of the breaks he’s gotten and still wind up without any cash? Sure he just got $3.5 million from an Iraqi billionaire to allegedly reimburse those who put up his bail among other things. He told the court, specifically Judge Amy St. Eve, that he was broke. I love the name Amy St. Eve. It sounds like a stripper’s name, but it’s a judge’s name. I bet she looks hot in her robe. I hope I never have to appear before her after writing this. How would somebody not notice $3.5 million dollars come barreling over the wire from Iraq? It just doesn’t seem very smart. Plus, even the thing that Barack Obama worked on for Rezko went belly up. How can you go wrong with low-income housing? Not too bright, I say. You’d think the politicians would recognize that and stay away in droves. Instead they flock to him and can’t wait to do him favors for what amounts to minuscule donations in the political scheme of things. The politicians don’t seem too bright either.
Speaking of politicians, I was recently surprised to learn that the Northwest Tollway, at least part of it anyway, has been renamed the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway. Jane Adams did a lot of good things in her life, the Hull House being her primary achievement. It was the first settlement house in the United States. settlement houses were places where those with connections to higher education got together to help teach and enlighten the poor. I suppose that wouldn’t be a bad idea in this day and age too.
I like to think our listeners provide a settlement house mentality to Buzz and myself every day. We are stupid, if not poor, and you enlighten us and educate us (correct us) without hesitation. No one will name a tollway after you or even a street, but those things would really only benefit me anyway. Come to think of it, I can’t think of another expressway named after a woman. Rosa Parks has a few boulevards here and there. I would have liked for them to have named it the Marilyn Monroe Memorial Tollway. After all, it intersects with the Kennedy.
