I am back in my office after a vigorous Pilates workout. I’m not sure if it’s a session, a lesson, or just plain torture. I suppose it’s a little bit of all three. I now have two pair of Pilates pants. They’re actually just high end (Polo) sweat pants, but people seem to get a kick out of me calling them Pilates pants, so I will continue to do so. Brooke, my Pilates instructor, told me today that a lot of guys are signing up ever since I started talking about Pilates. Perhaps I will be known as the guy who made Pilates a masculine endeavor. Who am I kidding? The name Pilates guarantees that men will never take it seriously.
It’s very weird to be in my office at 12:30 p.m. and have it be empty (except for me). This used to be about the time we were all getting here to start making the afternoon show radio magic. Now we start filtering in at about 3:30 a.m. I don’t actually get here until 5:00. Buzz usually arrives a few minutes after that, and we hit the ground running at 5:30, whether we want to or not. Usually I want to, but sometimes it doesn’t seem that way when my alarm goes off at 4:00 a.m. The best thing about working mornings is being done at 10:00. The second best thing is being able to drive to work at a high rate of speed.
I’m going to go home now and take a nap so I don’t fall asleep during my massage later this afternoon. It always irritates me when I fall asleep during a massage, because I’m missing out on whatever pleasant thing is happening to me. I don’t think I need to pay to be asleep. On the other hand, it is nice that I find it so relaxing, don’t you think? I love being massaged. I don’t even need a happy ending to feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth. In fact, a happy ending just makes a mess and causes feelings of remorse. If I want to feel like that, I can just try working on my own car, or painting the house.
