I am sitting at home while the furnace guy gives my unit a full servicing. That sounds more exciting than it is, and besides, he’s a dude. I am also ordering Dockers from the Casual Male web site. 2XL is still one of the smallest sizes in the big and tall world, so it makes me feel petite. I like wearing Dockers, I don’t know why, but I suppose it’s because they came out when I was 60 or so pounds heavier, and I always envied anybody who could wear them. Back then I was probably a 4XL, and I don’t even think that they made them in 2XL. Now, of course, I can wear them and feel like one of those cool yet mysteriously sexually ambiguous guys in the Dockers commercials.

While I was waiting for the HVAC guy to finish, I helped Matt Dahl book a ski vacation using my timeshare weeks and my United miles. I think I am addicted to booking travel online, especially airline travel. You get to pick your seats and you can even use your reward miles to book flights yourself. I know this is not news to most of you, but for some reason, I haven’t been paying very close attention to some of the details of my airline travel (I think it goes back to the drinking days) and now I can’t stop checking flights and seat assignments. I guess I’ve replaced one vice with another, but at least this vice takes people fun places. Let me remind you that seatguru.com is a great way to make sure you select the best seat on any aircraft.

I know it was in very poor taste to even think of trying to set Drew Peterson up with a date a few weeks ago, but what about the former girlfriend of the NIU shooter? The best thing, after your boyfriend goes off his Prozac and takes out a bunch of innocent kids at his former school, is to do an interview on CNN defending him as not so crazy (we have proof otherwise), and then start getting back out there and meeting new people on the dating scene. I could be wrong about that, but I’m not wrong about the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign probably not appreciating her wearing the U of I orange hoodie during her interview. I would have gone with a basic black hoodie, or at least something that doesn’t drag another school into the tragedy and clash with my hair.
