I gave Stephanie, my assistant, my White Sox tickets for Wednesday night because I thought it was going to rain. Turns out it’s going to rain Thursday, and it’s just going to be cold Wednesday night. Either way, I guess I’m good with staying home and watching it on TV, since I really don’t have a choice anyway. I do have some sort of a cold or something that has given me a sore throat and a bit of a cough. I’m always right on the verge of a cough, which as you can imagine, is really a pain in the ass when you’re talking for 4 ½ hours on your radio show. I’m going to go to bed early and try and sleep it off.
I woke up at midnight on Wednesday and started getting ready for work. I thought it was 4:00 a.m. I had set the alarm clock to the second alarm instead of “Alarm 1,” which was set to the default 12:00 a.m. I turned off the alarm, crept out of the bedroom, and I even had the shower on. Janet came into the bathroom and asked me what the hell it was that I was doing. I said that I was going to work, and then she informed me that it was only midnight. It was like a four-hour gift. I must admit that when I turned off the alarm I was thinking that it felt like I hadn’t slept at all, and I hadn’t.
So I’m going to go to bed and I’m hoping to drift off to the dulcet tones of Hawk and DJ. I might make a run to Panera and get myself some soup first. I have never had their soup in a bread bowl, but I hear good things about it. Today, as I was leaving the station, I thought that I heard Ben Gay practicing the Olympics theme. He might have some sort of torch report, tribute, or protest planned for Thursday. I know he is conflicted between his love for Richard Gere and his love of sports when it comes to the whole Tibet thing. Hey, maybe I’ll go get some won ton soup.
