DanksI went to the Sox game on Tuesday afternoon, and it sure felt nice to be outside in the sun. As it turns out, I didn’t even need to bring my coat to the game; the weather was perfect. I was there with Matt Dahl celebrating his birthday. Coincidentally, John Danks, the guy pitching for the White Sox, was celebrating his birthday too. Both Matt Dahl and John Danks turned 23 on Tuesday. What are the odds of something like that happening? Probably not that unbelievably high, but it was still an enjoyable diversion on an already very pleasant Tuesday afternoon. I took a nap, and now I’m trying to crank out this blog.

I have been trying not to nap too much in the afternoons, because that leads to a lot of very difficult nights where I have trouble getting to sleep prior to my 4:00 a.m. wake-up call. I made an exception on Tuesday because we are also going out to dinner for Matt’s birthday. I did my best to control my eating at the White Sox game, but I fear that I may have fallen Matt & Steveway short in my effort to properly count calories, and going to Morton’s for dinner isn’t going to help things much. It appears that we are coming back to the house for cake (yikes!) and the customary opening of a few gifts. I will try not to eat dessert at the restaurant, but I can’t promise anything.

A lot of people still ask me about Matt and his show with Brendan. They were unceremoniously dropped from the air after WCKG was run into the ground. I always kid Buzz by saying that “we” ran it into the ground, but in fact the station never recovered from losing Howard Stern. Having that moron from Cleveland, Rover, on for a year didn’t help much either. Matt and Brendan are still looking for a place to land on the radio dial, and in the meantime do an excellent webcast everyday at noon CDT. You can hear it at mattdahl.com. That plug, along with the Sox game and dinner, will have to be my gift for this year. Oh, and I got his name on the scoreboard too.
