I missed an article in Thursday’s Sun-Times about sportswriter Joe Cowley, Dale Torborg, and A.J. Pierzynski. I don’t get to read the papers as well as I would like to in the mornings. The world is busy making fresh news and I usually have my hands full. This afternoon (Thursday), I went to the Sun-Times website to see what I had missed. Turns out what I had missed was the first installment of “Joe Meets Pro”, and I sure am glad that I took the time to check it out. It’s hysterical! Say what you will about A.J., he’s a funny guy. I have to hand it to Joe, I’m not sure I would have ever let that video see the light of day.
I also noticed today that the Asian longhorn beetle has been eradicated in Chicagoland. I know that it was a really bad thing and that a lot of trees were destroyed by it, but you have to admit, it’s kind of cool looking. It almost looks like it should be doing something good like eating mosquitoes or at least making a cool noise. I have several Asian longhorn beetles in a terrarium that I keep in the basement. I’m going to release them into the wild and watch the fun. I did the same thing with my Asian carp a few years ago. How fun is it to watch those things jump right into people’s boats?
This time last year, I was hanging with the Nadas and getting ready to go out for my summer Dahlfins Tour. This year the Nadas are out promoting their new album and I’m sitting home strumming to the dogs. They have very sensitive ears, so they’ve asked that I don’t sing. I’d like to try and put together a band of local musicians that I could go out and play with (that doesn’t sound right) throughout the year, but as of yet, I still haven’t gotten that together. The Nadas have their own career to promote, and I can’t get any more speeding tickets on my way to their studio in Des Moines to rehearse. It cuts into my profits.
