I stopped on my way home from work and working out this afternoon and got me a meatball sangwich at a deli over by me. It’s ingenious, really. They hollow out a half a loaf of bread and then shove the meatballs and meat sauce down into the gaping hole that is created. The meatballs are good, and the sandwich is actually a work of art, in the sense that you don’t get the sideways meatball squirtage one normally experiences with the standard meatball sandwich experience. The deli is in La Grange and it’s called Knead. If you’re looking for a tasty meatball sandwich, I obviously recommend it. As a matter of fact, I bought two of them so I can have one for dinner too.
I am watching the Yankees at White Sox game on Wednesday night at home on Comcast SportsNet. The combination of the Sox bullpen collapsing and the crazed Yankee fans gave me some sort of anxiety attack last night, which I uncharacteristically blamed on an innocent ballpark hot dog. Those New Yorkers act like they own the place. The guys in front of me were nice enough, just a little too into rooting for the Yankees (“Come on 18!”). There’s no reasonable way to get that to stop. I also had an irritating little kid next to me who kept yelling that he wanted a hot dog from the all-inclusive section tossed to him in the buy-your-own-hot-dog section. I’ve got your hot dog, kid.
I gave my tickets for tonight’s game to David Wexler from The Little Guys. I am keeping an eye peeled for a nice shot of David (who has a bit of a Crusty the Clown look going) and Ed (who looks just like Ozzy Osbourne). You might recall that the duo was featured on the WGN broadcast of a Cubs/Sox series two seasons ago. Bob Brenly referred to them as “The Crazy Train.” It really doesn’t get any more awesome than that. Hawk and D.J. are so into talking about their careers and the price of bats that they don’t do as much with the crowd shots as they could. They might miss David and Ed entirely. Did Hawk or D.J. comment on the black cat that made its way onto the field last night? And I’m not talking about Jermaine Dye.
