We will be speaking to Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti on Friday morning prior to his departure for California and more specifically the Stockton Asparagus Festival, at which he will try and consume the most deep fried asparagus. I bet the bathrooms at the Stockton Asparagus Festival are a challenge when it comes to keeping them smelling fresh. I don’t know if asparagus makes your pee smell funny, but it sure makes mine smell funny, and it happens almost instantly. I wonder if that’s why they deep-fry it. Maybe there’s some sort of chemical reaction that takes place and renders the asparagus inert. I suppose that’s too much information (TMI) about me, and I apologize, but I’m not going back and rewriting it.
Comedian Jim Norton will also be stopping by the show (actually Deep Dish will just be on the phone). Jim is appearing at The Lakeshore Theater Friday night, but according to his Web site, the show is sold out. He doesn’t even really need to come and visit both Buzz and me, since he has no tickets to sell, but he still wants to anyway. Isn’t that sweet? Jim is still heard on the Opie and Anthony Show, which as you probably already know is only available in the Chicago area on XM satellite radio. I don’t recommend satellite radio as I believe it to be a means by which our government and foreign governments can track a person’s whereabouts.
Jack hasn’t sprung for any Steve Dahl Show billboards yet, but an old Steve and Garry billboard has surfaced on the Dan Ryan just south of U.S. Cellular Field. It’s from the AM1000 days, and it says Ear Reverent. A lot of people have called and emailed about it, so billboard advertising must work. I’m sure it’s not as effective as radio advertising, which these days is more effective than TV since you can’t TiVo through a radio show. As far as I know, this is an isolated incident and there are no plans afoot for a Steve and Garry reunion, just some free advertising for another show on another station that brings back a few memories.
