Our own Brendan Greeley is covering the R. Kelly trial and I’m hoping that we will soon have some crudely scribbled notes and courtroom sketches from him to post here at Dahl.Com. In the meantime, I would like you to look at the video of R. Kelly arriving on Friday with his peeps. One of them runs into a drinking fountain and acts like it attacked him. Then he motions to a white guy to pick up whatever he dropped out of his left hand when he ran into the stationary marble drinking fountain. Here’s the video. I would also like to point out the “Gavel to Gavel” coverage of the trial so far at the Tribune website has been outstanding.
Buzz and I have still not discussed our lunch with Bill Kurtis last Thursday. It’s possible that we might wait for Chef Hans to come in on Wednesday to talk about it, since Chef will undoubtedly want to rehash it, even after Buzz and I initially hash it. In all candor, it wasn’t that weird, but whenever you add in Chef Hans and his Swiss accent, you’ve got something way higher on the comedy food chain than you did when you started. Hans' accent makes everything funny, even when he’s asking people to donate money to a worthy cause. “No check is too big” is what he said during a radiothon to raise money for Eddie Schwartz.
It has not gone unnoticed by me that the Radio Hall of Fame to which I have been nominated is being sued for $4.5 Million by the builders who stopped construction halfway through the process. A foreclosure suit will probably dampen the festivities this fall if I were against all odds, inducted into said Radio Hall of Fame. Currently, I believe Bruce Dumont operates the museum out of his car trunk. I will be using that joke during my acceptance speech, which will probably take place in that very car trunk. I’m torn between wearing a tux or coveralls. Maybe I’ll wear the tux under the coveralls. That’s why they call them coveralls, right?
