Steve & DavidI just got back from my second golf lesson and I have blisters on my hand. Yes, I have a golf glove, but I have them on the other hand. I guess I was gripping the club too tightly. Now I know. I would like to go double-gloved, but that seems pretty presumptuous for a guy who has only had two lessons. Ed Farmer, who is quite a good golfer by the way, was out at the golf course when I got there today. It’s always nice to see Ed, and he knows everybody. Last week it was Erne Banks, and this week it was Ed Farmer. That’s a lot of pressure for my fledgling golf game to handle.

I am heading out to the White Sox game with David Hochberg tonight. I like David, and for all that he does for me, I thought I should take him to a game. Plus, I can partially write-off my seats that way. I am also taking my accountant, Ron Lewis, this week, and I’ll have to make sure and ask him if he’s “deductable” as well. It seems to be “Steve Takes Jewish Guys To FloodThe Ballpark Week”. I hope that Greg Solk, Lee Abrams and Bruce Wolf aren’t offended that I haven’t invited them too. I’m in show business so I know a lot of Jewish and gay people. Next week I’ll take my gay friends to “Mesh Tank Top Week”.

It seems like summer is finally here, and not a moment too soon. I’m sure it doesn’t seem like summer in Iowa or downstate Illinois, where it’s flooding, but then again, it can’t seem like winter with that much water flowing. Having had my basement flood three times, I have a lot of sympathy for flood victims. It’s really a helpless feeling trying to hold that water back, and that was just in my basement, not my entire house, street and town. I keep thinking there has to be something better than sandbags to hold back the water. Right now I’m thinking about streets and sidewalks made out of super-absorbent sponge. I’ll keep working on it.
