Steve & MattMy streak of taking Jewish guys to Sox games will end at one when I take Matt Dahl to the game on Wednesday night. It will start right back up again on Thursday when my accountant, Ron Lewis, joins me. Come to think of it, Matt might be Jewish at this point. I don’t really keep track of the boy’s religious practices. We are only forced to go to church once a year at Christmas time. We go to a Congregational Church, primarily because Janet’s friend sings at it. Congregational services are meant to be a “feel good” type thing, and quite honestly I miss the autocratic dogma of the Catholic Church. Catholics know how to make you feel like you’ve been to church.

I don’t really care about the race, creed or color of the people I take to Sox games. I’d prefer that they aren’t sunburned Satanic Eskimos, but that’s about the extent of my discrimination. Tuesday night I went with David Hochberg from Townstone Financial, and we had a great time. David is a talker, which is fine by me, since Ron Lewisthat cuts down on the amount that I have to talk. He’s also the best kind of talker for my money. That’s the kind who periodically asks you a question about yourself or your surroundings so you don’t feel guilty having him or her doing all of the work. He also came back from the buffet with two plates of food. That was awesome.

Although he is quite chatty on the air and during his webcasts, getting Matt Dahl to talk is an entirely different matter. It is like pulling teeth. It’s not a huge problem for me, because I enjoy long periods of silence punctuated by something that is mutually interesting. Some people find Matt’s lack of conversation off-putting and possibly even moody. I don’t think that’s the case, and what do I care as long as it’s quiet? If you accidentally get involved in a situation where you’re trying to get Matt to respond, one could possibly get frustrated. Usually, Matt’s “silent treatment” is easily rectified with a simple “What’s the deal?”  Ron Lewis is also a talker, so it will be nice to rest my ears for tomorrow.
