Hey, wake up! We are back in the studio Monday 07-07-08 with a live Steve Dahl Show. In case you haven’t noticed (and that would be okay with me), we have been off for the past two weeks, while you have been treated to some “Best Of.”  So, please tune us in if you have somehow gotten out of the habit, and if you’ve continued to stay with the habit, God bless you. I don’t like being gone for this long. I always think that people will forget about me. Look what happened to Mike North. One day you’re on the air, and the next day you’re pretending that an Internet broadcast will net you $1,000,000. I would have taken the CBS money first.

A funny thing happened to me on Saturday night. As you might or might not know, I wrote a column about premium theater seating, which ran in the Tribune last Thursday. It was mostly about how much I like the Muvico Theaters in Rosemont. I was sort of dreading going I there on Saturday because I didn’t want anybody to gush about what a wonderful thing I had done by writing such positive things about them in the paper. Turns out, not one single person there was aware of anything that I had done on their behalf. Then I was bummed that no one had read it.Finally I reconciled that having no one read it was better than having people gush.

While we were sitting there watching Hancock (which I found to be quite enjoyable despite some bad reviews), the movie shut down and the emergency strobe lights came on. In these times everybody takes those sorts of things seriously, and we all managed to evacuate the theaters in an orderly fashion. I went right to the valet and had him get my car. The guy brings my car around and he’s dodging Rosemont Fire Department trucks to get me my car.  I gave him $5.00 and went home. I still haven’t been able to find out what happened. What are the odds that the movie would have started up in the right place again anyway?
