Show BannersIn case you have been in a coma all weekend, Garry Meier dropped by the show at Oak Street Beach on Friday. He apparently was there having lunch with some friends and watching The Air and Water Show practice. I think he might have been stalking me, but who knows. There were a lot of Steve Dahl Show banners around, so it was pretty hard not to know what was going on. It doesn’t really matter. Either way, it was nice to get some closure on that part of my life. I had been trying for years to get that whole thing behind me, and on Friday I really felt like I had.

At any rate, I invited him to come up and be on the show if he wanted to, and he did. It was really the best way for it to happen. No negotiating, no jockeying for position, and no pressure. He stayed until 7:00 and then said thanks and walked home. I think we did a great show with him as a “guest”, and after a half hour or so Garry and I seemed to kind of fall into our old rhythms. We even got to hear from Cliff. Garry is quite good at being the second person on a show. Sadly, he might have married someone who wants him to be the number one person.Break-Up Sex

The obvious question is “Are you guys getting back together?” My honest answer is I don’t think so. The nice thing about him showing up was that we didn’t have to deal with any of the past. I don’t think it would be that simple when it comes to cutting a deal, but I’m not closed off to anything in terms of a reunion. We’re doing pretty well as a show right now with Buzz and Wendy. Then there’s the $12,000,000 question: Who’s going to pay Garry Meier? Think of Friday as breakup sex. You know, one last time so we can both move on. That’s kind of how I’m thinking about it. And it was pretty good.
