Radio towers are coming down in the Chicago area, and Steve recalls broadcasting from the AM1000 transmitter years ago. The “78” area downtown promises to be a live/work/play space for modern people to listen to sombr and Role Model, while rethinking their lives. Dag and Expo’76 learned an important showbiz lesson about how the rich stay rich. Steve has some shocking thoughts about s’mores and the people that love them.

We are checking on the maximum amount of dogs that can be owned in certain municipalities, please be cool in Woodstock, people! Steve recalls a pitching machine he purchased when his sons were in Little League. Steve and Janet had a busy weekend of teamwork in the yard. Dag loves Steve’s long-touted miracle bagel and bacon sandwich. John Mellencamp and Pat Mcafee are feuding online. Steve wants to write a haiku.

Steve saw a coyote in broad daylight, which is as rare as seeing unexploded pyrotechnics washing up on the shores of Lake Michigan. Speaking of pyro, Steve had his flower mouth deflowered by a hot and spicy piece of pizza last night. Lots of Dahl family history on today’s show, including Roger Dahl’s past in a traveling auto thrill show, in which he was part of The Slide For Life. Sebastian Bach is coming to a Rib Fest (or a pie) near you.

Steve and Janet harmoniously cleaned their deck together over the weekend, but it wasn’t long before some grievances surfaced. We take an excursion through some classic ‘70s radio production like Chickenman and The Tooth Fairy from Dick Orkin. Also, a Lee Baby Simms aircheck from 1971 . While traveling across the country, Steve would cold call other Dahls in the local phone books to determine if there was any kind of connection, family or “otherwise”. The news of Cher’s line of gelato, Cherlato, excites us, but we can’t seem to locate the actual flavors. Speaking of creamy things; it seems that dirty sodas, while somewhat complicated to construct, are the rage (at least in Utah). Steve fell asleep to the Home Shopping Network and awoke to a more gentle form of television instead of the news. Quick question: Do you know the Muffin Man?

In an effort to sufficiently warm up his voice, Steve has started singing country songs (in the key of E) before the show. Chicago native and Cheers star George Wendt passed away. Steve recalls radio troubles with Eddie Schwartz, Jonathan Brandmeier, and polka queen Vlasta Krsek. Steve prefers to eat in front of a television. He sets up the programming while Janet plates the food.

It was a busy weekend for Steve and Janet, including an early Sunday trip downtown to the Union League Club and a church concert featuring Matt Dahl on keyboards. Violet hit a home run in her softball game, Steve has discovered a “Whoosh!” sound that’s been added to Marquee telecasts, prompting Dag to talk about the Wilhelm Scream. Tom Thayer was thrown off by Steve’s text messaging time gaps. Also, many little rocks were toted.

Steve invested 45 minutes in a mucus spiders video that ultimately proved fruitless. Janet used a dustpan and a squeegee for an unpleasant cleanup job.. Steve and Janet are back home from Florida, and their return trip was dotted with things like frozen Cokes, a near miss in southern Georgia, trucker showers, and traffic trouble in Mellencamp country. Dag has a pen with a light on the tip for night writing. Each morning in Hawaii, Tom Thayer greets the sunrise, not to mention folks out for an early beach stroll. He also spotted a shark right off the coast of Maui in the midst of swimmers.

Steve and Janet review their stated goals and chore checklist before they depart the Sunshine State. Most of the “chores” have been accomplished Steve’s spackle work continues to earn mixed reviews. In fact, Steve seems to be earning mixed reviews in general. Janet is introverted in Florida but extroverted back home. Steve is the exact opposite, with Florida chattiness and Illinois quietude.
